"We are delighted to team up with our friends at Columbia Pictures to bring this beloved superhero back to IMAX theatres," said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "Our 2007 film slate is taking shape earlier than any previous year, and we believe this clearly highlights the increasing value studios see in the IMAX theatre network as it continues to grow worldwide. Spider-Man is ideally suited to the immersive power of The IMAX experience, and we look forward to next May when moviegoers will be able to continue the journey with the next chapter of the Spider-Man story."
The Spider-Man 3 story is full of more twists and turns than the previous installations. Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to Mary Jane (Kirsten

Dunst) and as a superhero. But there is a Katrina size storm brewing on the horizon. As Spider-Man basks in the public's adulation for his accomplishments he is pursued by Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard), who rivals Mary Jane for his affections, Peter becomes overconfident and starts to neglect the people who care about him most. His newfound self-assuredness is jeopardized when he faces the battle of his life against two of the most feared villains ever The Sandman and Venom whose unparalleled power and thirst for retribution threaten Peter and everyone he loves. Venom is the character of Eddie Brock, Jr. who also is a fellow reporter at the Bugle who succumbs to the dreaded “Symboite” after it switches host. The “Symboite” is a “Character” only the most loyal Marvel Magazine fans will know and fear of. After it takes him over he or “IT” vows to kill Peter Parker.
To add, Harry Osborn (Peter Parker’s at one time best friend) still has his plot of revenge for Spider Man that became apparent at the end of the second film when he uncovers his late father’s hidden lair filled with his Goblin-ware and weapons. Yes, he still blames Spider-Man for his father’s death in the first film. To make matters even worse, Spider Man, A.K.A Peter Parker, Finds out more Damaging evidence regarding his Uncle Ben’s car hijack and death regarding one of the characters. With the Sandman, Venom, Harry Osborn, Jr., Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, haunting memories and last but not least J. Jonah Jameson his plate is full!

Reportedly, the film's budget is $250 million, which would make it the most expensive film ever made. Principal photography wrapped up on August 2006 after over a hundred days of filming. The team spent ten days between November 5, 2005, and November 18, 2005, to film sequences that would involve intense visual effects so Sony Pictures Imageworks could begin work on the shots early in the project.
The Film is again scheduled for May 4th, 2007.
